30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 29

So today is day 29 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I colored some images from a Recollections stamp set that is years old.  I used another robot in this set once, I think.  Other than that, the set has just been on a shelf, unused.  I have been seeing the galaxy background on blogs which brought these images to mind.  I'd like to give that a try and use my space images.

These small images were cute and fun.  I definitely want to do something with them.  One more day to go, folks!!

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 26

Welcome to my Day 26 post for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I had a very busy day, so I am very grateful to have gotten a chance to color a bit tonight.  For a while, I thought I might not make it!

I colored two small images from a Recollections set.  There are matching dies for the flamingo and pineapple.  I just finished coloring them a little while ago, and I'll be darned if I can find the set now to tell you the name.  What's up with that?!

I can see myself working with these images more.  It's a cute set and will make some fun cards.  I hope you have a good week.

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 23

I'm here to show you my Day 23 project at the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  This time I used a Close to My Heart stamp that is retired.  After using my Spectrum Noirs, I cut it out with a Tim Holtz die, dusted it with chalk while it was still in the die, then mounted it on another cut from the same die set.  It's card ready.  I just have to decide what kind of card it will become.

I hope you're having a wonderful day!

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 17

I have another card today for my entry for Day 17 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I colored a birthday cupcake for my niece, my nephew's wife.  This card is late, but it will get to her soon, I promise. The cupcake is a Cricut cut from the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge with coordinating stamp. In addition to coloring the cupcake with my Spectrum Noirs, I inked through a stencil to create the background panel.  I added a sentiment and side border in addition to putting some WOS on the frosting to complete the card.

The days coloring just fly by, I tell you.  Have you been able to enter and play along with Kathy R and the rest of us?

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 16

Welcome to Day 16 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I needed a birthday card for a friend so I decided to do some more loose water coloring of the Cling Cyclamen stamp by Stampendous.  I used Distress Inks again, but pinks this time.  (I previously colored this image in red for Day 11 here.)  So I actually finished a card instead of just coloring the image and saving it for later. I used a stitched die to cut out the panel after water coloring the flowers, mounted it onto some DP and then onto the card base.  I added the die cut sentiment and some sequins.

This loose water coloring technique is fun.  I definitely found it relaxing and plan to use it more in the future.  It gives a nice soft look to images.

Card stock:  Recollections 110 lb white
Designer Paper:  My stash
Inks:  Distress Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Mowed Lawn & Crushed Olive; Memento Tuxedo Black
Dies:  My stash (happy birthday) & Fawn Lawn Stitched Rectangles
Sequins:  Pretty Pink Posh

In addition to posting at the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, I also entering some others.

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 15

Wow, we've reached the half way point of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  Just goes to show, time does fly when you're having fun!   I have another flower from the Close to My Heart stamp set Enjoy the Moment (retired).  The set doesn't name the flowers.  I tried googling it, and found someone who called this a morning glory.  I'm not sure that is correct.  Maybe someone who really knows flowers can confirm that for me or correct me.  Here it is, whichever flower it may be:

I realize I colored purple flowers a day or so ago.  But purple is my favorite color.  Next time, I will definitely use another color for flowers.

I'm off to stamp or print another image to color for tomorrow!

30 Coloring Challenge Day 12

Yesterday was Day 12 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I colored a stamped image, but did not have time to post so here it is today.  As usual, I've kept it simple.  This is a old stamp from Close to My Heart that I've had for several years.

This is going into my box to be made into a card later.  I am going to color another image for today, Day 13, and post it later.  Have a good one!

30 Day Color Challenge Day 10

We're at Day 10 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I never thought I'd make it this far, but somehow I have.  I colored this little guy earlier today.  He's the partner of the penguin I colored on Day 1.  This time I used grays instead of black.  My blending is a little bit better, but, apparently, these darker colors pose a problem for me.  I'll keep working on my technique.  But here we go:

I hope to be back tomorrow for Day 11.  This is hard work, believe me, but I'm sure it's worthwhile.  I hope you have a great weekend.

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 9

For my Day 9 image for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge I chose a sweet little lion from the same Recollections set I used yesterday.  I had an easier time blending these colors. This image and yesterday's will make a cute card for a younger child, don't you think?

I hope you have been able to spend some time coloring, using which ever medium you feel like using.  Go out and have a great day!

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 8

Wow, I feel as if I'm barely getting in under the wire for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge today.  It's now 9 pm Eastern Time, and I'm just getting my image posted.  I had a long and busy day.  I left home at 8:45 am and got home around 5 pm.  I rested a bit, ate a quick bite, and started coloring.  I tossed my first try.  I am not totally satisfied with my second attempt, but I'm posting it anyway.  I have trouble blending and shading with my gray Spectrum Noir markers.  Do you remember my first post - the penguin?  I am really going to have to work on gray and black.  I guess I'll look for lessons on You Tube.

This little hippo is from a Recollections set I've had for years.  Today I inked him up for the very first time.
Hopefully, I'll be back tomorrow with a better effort.  I wish you happy crafting!

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 7

I'm making my Day 7 post for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I got up early this morning to color before leaving the house.  I wanted to be able to post this afternoon.  I'm really pleased with this.  The stamp is called Dominique by Rubber Necker.  I've had it so very long that I don't even remember when I bought it.  When I bought it, I thought I would paper piece her outfit, but just never got around to it.  I bought her because I belong to a senior dance company that performs African dance in addition to other types of dance. My hair wasn't in locs when I bought the stamp, but now she looks like me (or I look like her) - LOL!!

I must say, I did have a bit of fun coloring her.  She's now in my box, waiting for me to make a card later.

30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 3

I did some coloring for Day 3 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, but did not have time to post yesterday.  This is the bird that I colored.  As I look at it today, I think it might have been nice to add texture by putting some dots on his body.  I can't remember exactly what this technique is called, but I know I have seen it done.  I may do that later. But for right now, I like how it looks and don't want to mess with it. Actually, as I think about it more, I'd like to add grass and sky to make the bird ready for a card. So I guess it's really not finished.

My intention is to use this coloring challenge as a learning experience. I can do basic coloring, but not easily and not excellently. At this point, coloring doesn't relax me, although I can't say I'm tense doing it as I was when I first started.  I'm just not totally comfortable.  I struggle with blending a lot.  And I definitely struggle with just chosing which colors to use. Hopefully, somewhere along this journey I'll get better and actually have fun coloring.  How do you feel about coloring, really??

I'll be back later with Day 4.

30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 2

I told you I'd be back with my day 2 coloring project for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  This time I chose a rose stamp (retired CTMH).  It didn't quite work out the way I wanted it to, but it's a lot better than my day 1 post.  Again, I used my Spectrum Noir markers and added a touch of clear Wink of Stella after fussy cutting.  I also added white dots to the center using a white gel pen, ala Kathy.  The rose is definitely prettier in real life than in this picture.  I will make a card with it later.  Right now, I'm just concentrating on coloring, not making cards.

If you want to play along, hop over to Kathy's blog and link up.  Today there's a blog hop with lots of cool prizes.

By the way, yesterday I tried to link up using Facebook, but now I'm not sure that I did it correctly so I went back and linked to Kathy's blog.  I also linked this picture to the blog and will continue to do so with my future projects.

Take care, crafty friends!

The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 1

Hi, there!  I am really stepping out on faith in my crafting and coloring by participating in Kathy R's 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I registered for her last challenge, but ended up not participating at all.  This time I'm determined to play along.  Yesterday, March 1, was the first day.  I started my coloring late last night, and got it posted sometime after 10 pm.  By that time, I was too tired to post here so I'm doing so today.  Here it is:

This little guy is a Hampton Arts stamp that I got on clearance at Michael's after Christmas.  It comes with a matching die, but the doggone die does not fit the stamp - why that is, I do not know.  Definitely poor quality control, but I like the stamp so, it is what it is.  I used Spectrum Noir markers.

OMG, for some reason, I had a really hard time coloring this little penguin.  Maybe it was because it was so late and my eyes were very tired.  I really prefer working in natural daylight, but that didn't happen.  It's apparent that it's not well done, but I posted it anyway because I did my best at the time.  I fully intend to give it another try later.  I'll be back to show a different coloring effort later today. Wish me luck in my efforts - please!
