613 Avenue Create #65-Anything Goes-Option Create Your Own Color Challenge

Oh, Happy Day!!! The sun is shining brightly, but it is cold, cold, cold outside. I'm just happy to see the sun :) Our challenge at 613 Avenue Create has the delightful option of allowing you to create your own color challenge.  You can choose from 1) blue/purple/turquoise; 2) yellow/pink/orange; 3) blue/pink/white. Our sponsors are Aurora Wings and Kenny K. I used blue/purple/turquoise and had fun with Kenny K's Fish Digi:

I think this little guy is just darling.  I used color pencils and baby oil. (Not Gamsol - I saw Gina K use this technique. You don't need to open a window.) For the water, I used the direct ink pad to paper technique with Broken China and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks. I cut the waves using a 1" circle punch. I popped up the fish, added a few sequins, and stamped the CTMH sentiment with Memento Grape Jelly Ink. All the papers are from my stash.

I'm entering these challenges:  Challenges 4 Everybody #39 - Anything Goes ; Crafting by Designs - Sea Recipe (Water, Sequins, Sea Creatures); Sister Act Card Challenge #50 - Anything Goes; Word Art Wednesday #125 - Anything Goes.

I hope you have a wonderful week - craft away!!

Teen Birthday Card

Hello, Friends. Today I'm showing you a card I made for my niece's 13th birthday. She received a white iPhone when school started and told me, "I got an iPhone, and I love it!"  So when I saw this Kelly Purkey iPhone die at Simon Says, I bought it with her birthday in mind.  Here's the card:

The DP, Washi  and bling are from my stash.  The stamps and ink are CTMH. The flower is a punch that belongs to a friend. I had a lot of fun making this card, and my niece loved it.

I'm entering these challenges:  The Card Concept #6 - Birthday (my card is Clean & Layering); Alphabet Challenge Blog - D for Diecuts; Delicious Doodles Challenge #81 - Mother's Day or a Special Female.

I can't wait to use this cute die again!

Thanks to my Friend

Hi, there!  Today I'm showing you a simple thank I made for my best friend who, even though we now live across the country from each other, never fails to come through for me when I need her. Aren't I blessed to have a friend like her?  YES I AM!!!

It's a super simple card using Memento inks and a CTMH retired stamp set (don't know the name). I rounded two corners with my Corner Chomper. The photo has a bit of a shadow, but I did my best.  Anyhow, she liked it :)

I'm entering these challenges:  CAS on Sunday #29 - One Layer; Less is More #169 - Recipe: Use 3 of Something and Comment on 3 Entries; and Through the Craftroom Door - Anything Goes.

Have a great day!

613 Avenue Create #63-Option Create A 2D or 3D Flower

Hi, there!  The new challenge at 613 Avenue Create is, as always, Anything Goes. The option is to create your own 2D or 3D flower - fun, right?!  Here's my card using Scrapper's Delight Rainy Days Digi 1.

The digi is so cute.  I used color pencils and gamsol again.  The borders are from my stash.  I added the rain drops using a retired CTMH stamp. The sentiment is CTMH also.  The corners of the image panel are rounded with a Fiskars corner punch. I lightly shaded the area around the image with chalk. The DP and cardstock are stash items.  I made the flower using a small Fiskars punch and put a sequin in the center.  All edges are distressed with CTMH ink. Finally, I used a Corner Chomper on the card base.

I'm entering these challenges:  One Stitch at a Time #204 - Use a Digi; That Craft Place - Flowers and/or Mother's Day; Sister Act Card Challenge #48 - Anything Goes; and Challenges 4 Everybody #39 Anything Goes.

Hope you have a good day :)

A Card for our Son

Today I'm sharing the card I made for our youngest son.  He's a writer who uses a computer, but he has an old school heart.  If it were feasible, he'd compose his works in longhand or use a typewriter. I don't have a typewriter stamp (I really, really want one), so I used a K & Company die cut that I got on clearance at Michael's.  I've had it for months, knowing I would use it for our son.

Everything is from my stash. I added the green striped patterned paper to the card base. I used a Paper Studio embossing folder for the handwriting, then rubbed CTMH Chocolate ink over the embossing.  I added strips of wood pattern DP to the top and bottom of the embossed piece.  I popped up the typewriter and added green enamel dots.  I distressed all the edges in the CTMH ink.

These are the challenges I'm entering:  Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe Challenge #166 - Spots & Stripes; The Male Room #5 - Colours (Blue, Green and Brown); and Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge - March.

We're having a beautiful day here. I plan to get out and enjoy it while I can. I wish you a great day!

Trying A Water Color Technique

Today I tried something entirely new for me - a water color technique using Distress Inks and Distress Markers. My friend Virginia Lu has a new challenge blog - Virginia's View Challenge. The first challenge is Water Coloring. A few days before I saw Virginia's new blog, I had actually tried a water color technique which was a total failure. I decided to try again so I could enter Virginia's challenge. I'm actually a bit pleased by this result - at least I didn't want to throw it away - LOL! I do hope to improve on my technique by making more water color cards.

For the flower, I used 3 Distress Markers, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Barn Door.  I stamped the CTMH image in Black Versafine ink.  I used the lightest marker in the middle of the flower, then the two darker colors going outward.  (I just scribbled since I was going to fussy cut the image.) I sprayed the flower with water and moved the paper around so the ink flowed. I dried the image with my heat gun and then fussy cut it. Later I added yellow to the inside with a Sharpie.  For the background I squished Peeled Paint and Mustard Seed Distress Inks on my craft sheet.  I sprayed the areas with water and dipped my paper into in, moving the ink around.  After heat drying it, I scribbled Faded Jeans in the center, sprayed it and heat dried it.  (I felt that the area behind the flower needed to be a bit darker for contrast.)  I used several colors on the leaves and fussy cut them also.  I popped up the flower and added sequins and a sentiment.  I distressed the edges of the panel with scissors and CTMH Dutch Blue ink. I sponged blue ink on the white card base. After gluing down the water color panel, I added clear Wink of Stella to the flower and was done.

I'm entering these challenges:  Virginia's View Challenge #1 - Water Color; Make It Monday #181 - Anything Goes; Through the Craft Room Door March 4 Challenge - Anything Goes.

613 Avenue Create-Anything Goes-Option Use Your Stash

Good morning, Crafty Friends!  Today's challenge at 613 Avenue Create has the option of Use Your Stash. Our sponsor is Rick St. Dennis.  I've used the Daffodil Single Image digi. I have need for lots of birthday cards in the upcoming months, so I made a birthday card.

I colored the digi using colored pencils and gamsol.  I'm getting to like this.  I die cut the image uncolored, dusting the cut with chalk before removing the image from the die.  Then I colored another copy of the image, fussy cut it, glued down the stem and popped up the flower.  The die cut is popped up also. I distressed the edges of the flower, the die, the DP and the card with ink. The ribbon  (American Crafts) looks a lot lighter than the flower in this picture, but they actually match nicely.  The daffodil has a light coating of clear Wink of Stella, and I added some rhinestones from Recollections. The sentiment and DP are CTMH.  The cardstock is K & Company.  Absolutely everything is from my stash!!

I'm entering these challenges:  Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge -  always Anything Goes but must cover your card blank with patterned paper; The Card Concept - Floral (my style is Clean and Layered); Natalie and Amy's Challenge #18 - Flowers.
