Leaves

Here I am enjoying simply gorgeous and unseasonably warm Fall days. I just love being in my craft room filled with natural sunlight. It makes creating cards a bit easier as I feel so happy. This card is for my brother-in-law's birthday

I stamped the leaves and fussy cut them, adding a bit of color randomly with colored pencils. I think the card has a nice masculine look.

CAS Flower Card

This card is for a line dance friend who is recovering from a serious illness. I sponged Spun Sugar Distress ink onto water color paper and sprayed it with water to create the background.  The flower is a retired Close to My Heart stamp. I created the paper for the flower by smooshing 3 distress inks separately on a craft sheet. I sprayed each area with water, and using a paint brush, splashed each onto some water color paper to create a random pattern. After stamping the flower, I fussy cut it and glued it on the pink panel. I added a sentiment and some sequins. Voila!

I like the flower from my hand made designer paper. I stamped and fussy cut two other (different) flowers and saved them to use another time. I'm really liking distress inks. I recently added some mini ones to my collection and intend to use them soon. I want to work on my blending.

Card stock:  Recollections 110 lb; Canson Water Color Paper
Inks:  Distress - Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord, Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar; Memento Tuxedo Black
Stamps:  Paper Smooches Spiritual Sampler; Close to My Heart
Accessories:  Sequins - Pretty Pink Posh

Emboss Resist Card

This card is for the husband of a friend of mine. He suffered a stroke, but is progressing well, thank God. I wanted to try something new so I gave the emboss resist technique a try.  After embossing some Martha Stewart leaf stamps in white, I sponged on distress inks. The Paper Smooches sentiment is also embossed, but on vellum. I am quite pleased with how it turned out.  Take a look:

613 Avenue Create #190-Anything Goes-Option Use Green & Gold

It's monthly challenge time again at 613 Avenue Create.  Our Anything Goes theme has the option to green and gold, to continue our Fall celebration. I used a Bugaboo to create another card for our grandson - no surprise there, LOL!  He made the freshman basketball team so this image is perfect for him:

The uniform is black and gold to match the school colors. Our grandson wears red basketball shoes so this little guy had to have red basketball shoes, too!

I made my own background paper using a $1 basketball stamp I got from Michael's years ago and chalked the background surrounding the basketball player. I just love Bugaboo's stick figure sport images - they are so cute and such fun.

Cardstock:  My stash
Inks:  Close to My Heart
Stamps:  Waffle Flower Congratsl Michael's

Distress Ink Halloween

I'm really early with a Halloween card this year. I am determined to get better blending distress inks so I decided to ink up a night sky for our grandson's Halloween card. Here it is:

The tree  is heat embossed in black and so is the bird. I created the sky with distress inks. They blended pretty smoothly. The background is a bit darker in real life. I splashed the background with water to create an erie look. I cut the panel down and matted it. I didn't think it needed a sentiment - it looks like Halloween, don't you think?

Card stock:  Recollections
Inks:  Versamark
Stamps:  Close to My Heart (retired) and Michael's
Embossing Powder:   Stampendous Detail Black
DP:  BoBunny Fright Delight Collection ( blog candy I won a couple of years ago on Virginia Lu's blog)

Musical Birthday Card

Today's post is a card I made for my youngest son's birthday. He loves music.  As usual,  I made him a clean and simple card with no stamping on the card front. I think it has a nice masculine feel to it.

The background is a musical note embossing folder. The key board is a die I borrowed from a friend so I'm not sure of the name, but I do know she purchased it from Create and Craft online.  I cut it in black and white and overlaid the pieces. The sentiment is a die that I've had for a while, and I'm unsure of the name.

Card stock:  Recollections
Die Cuts:  Unknown
Embossing Folder:  Sixxix

Stencil Thank You

Hi, Friends,

I'm posting a thank you I made for a friend. I used Distress Inks through a stencil. I matted the background on blue paper after cutting it to size, then glued it to a white card base. Finally, I added a sticker flower, a die cut thanks, and some sequins for a quick and easy card.

Sorry about the glare in the picture. I tried photo editing, but this is the best I could do. I really didn't want to use a sticker flower, but I find I don't have any simple flower dies. I'll have to remedy that soon. As for why I didn't just stamp and fussy cut a flower, my arthritic right thumb was giving me the blues, making using scissors a bit painful.  I needed the card in a hurry, so I went for the sticker.

Card stock:  Recollections
Die Cut:  Paper Smooches
Stencil:  Ranger Dylusions Triangles Small
Distress Inks:  Broken China, Salty Ocean
Accessories:  My stash

P.P.S.  Thanks to Happy Little Stampers for deleting my incorrect link so I could link up this card. Sometimes my computer and I just don't get along...

Apple Card

So how are you today?  I'm feeling fine, happy to be well and happy that it's another sun shiny day. Today I'm posting a card I made using a retired Close to My Heart set that I have had for years. Solid images were so hard for me to stamp pre-MISTI (which is probably why I hadn't used this set before).

Sister Birthday

Wow - this is my second post for today - how about that?!  I'm on a roll today - LOL!! This is a card I made for my sister's birthday. As you can see, it's a milestone birthday. My sister loves playing the slot machines as much as I love making cards. (She doesn't make cards and I don't gamble.)  I have had this Robert Jackson image for over 4 years and have never used it. I just love this Gambling Granny as I call her. The image was actually a gift from Chana Harris, an owner of 613 Avenue Create. Thanks again, Chana!

It took well over a week for this card to arrive at my sister's house. I was so afraid it was lost in the mail. I thought I would have to make another one since this was so special.  When she finally received it, my sister laughed and said she understood why I was so upset it took so long to get to her. Can you blame me?

If you look closely, you can see that I photographed the card after my husband and I signed it. Oh, well.

This step card was a lot of fun to  make. I used a die for the sentiment and stars. The heart and cherries are stickers. It's colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. The card stock is all from my stash as are the rhinestones.

I've had a lot of fun posting today. Now I've got to get back to visiting and commenting on blogs. Happy Memorial Day, friends!

Air Travel

Hello, friends. I'm back with a card that I made for our grandson to thank folks who contributed funds to help make it possible for him to travel with his classmates from California to Washington, D.C. and New York. He made the trip in May, and it's something he'll remember all his life.

I bought the Tim Holtz United States die at least 2 years ago when I was in Florida. I purchased the Fawn Lawn airplane and cloud stamp and die set last summer. The sentiment is CTMH and it's cut with a Fawn Lawn stitched die. All card stock is from my stash.

The USA die is so cool, but it's very hard on senior eyes! As you cut the United States shape, the individual states are also cut and fall out...California was easy to pick up, since the shape is so distinctive. New York and DC are small and gave me fits. I only wanted to highlight his home state and where he was going so those are the only states I glued in place. I think I made about 22 cards.  I was happy with how they turned out and so was our grandson.
