30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 7

I'm making my Day 7 post for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I got up early this morning to color before leaving the house.  I wanted to be able to post this afternoon.  I'm really pleased with this.  The stamp is called Dominique by Rubber Necker.  I've had it so very long that I don't even remember when I bought it.  When I bought it, I thought I would paper piece her outfit, but just never got around to it.  I bought her because I belong to a senior dance company that performs African dance in addition to other types of dance. My hair wasn't in locs when I bought the stamp, but now she looks like me (or I look like her) - LOL!!

I must say, I did have a bit of fun coloring her.  She's now in my box, waiting for me to make a card later.

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 6

I've made it to Day 6 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  This time I colored an Easter bunny from an old Close to My Heart set.  Again, I used Spectrum Noir markers.  You won't see me coloring much with anything but my SNs.  I am trying loose water coloring.  I seem to be ok with that (after trying once).  But you won't see me do much at all with colored pencils.  I don't have the really good pencils (i.e., expensive).  I see real artists/card makers do an excellent job with colored pencils, even the inexpensive ones like I have. However, they just don't work well for me.  But I digress.  Here's my bunny:

In visiting blogs, I have noticed sometimes crafters say that they have made a card with an image that they colored in the past and stored away.  I have never done that.  So I've decided that that's what I'm doing my completed projects for this challenge.  I'm keeping them in a box and will pull them out at a later date to use to complete a card or whatever.

In the past, I have stayed away from line images in stamps because they required coloring.  Consequently, I don't have many in my collection.  I do have digis from being on a couple of design teams.  I purchased some that I fell in love with for some reason. I have also collected some free digis.  I'm struggling a bit to come up with images to color for this challenge, but I'll get through it somehow.  Wish me luck - LOL!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #296 - St. Patrick's Day

All the best to you!  On the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog today, our theme is St. Patrick's Day.  Our sponsor is Dreaming Tree SVG's.  Please use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and let us know which cartridge you used.  If you use the Cricut Explore, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.  And if your project is not a card, you get two entries in the drawing!  The prize is a $20 gift certificate.

This was fun to make.  I cut the sunburst out of white card stock and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers.  I used Distress Inks on a white panel cut to the size of the sunburst before adhering the two together. I attached the panel to some DP atop my white card base. Then I added the shamrocks and the sentiment.

Be sure to visit the Fantabulous Cricut blog to see what my other teamies have created.  You're in for a treat.  And be sure to play along with us.

I'll be back later today to enter some challenges.

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 5

I am back with my second post for today.  The 30 Day Coloring Challenge is keeping me really busy.  But since I'm not making cards, I do save some time.  This digi is from Fine Arts by Robert Jackson.  I've had it for years, and I don't think it's available any more.  I first colored it years ago before I ever knew about Spectrum Noir markers. I know I used color pencils and the outcome wasn't great.  This one turned out more to my liking.

613 Avenue Create #195-Anything Goes-Option Use a Rubber Stamp

It seems I got a bit turned around on our challenge at 613 Avenue Create this week.  I didn't create an ATG; I created a card.  Oops!  But I did use a rubber stamp, which is the option.  A few months ago, I won some blog candy from Stampendous:  10 sheets of beautiful Graphics 45 double sided paper and two rubber stamps!  Needless to say, I was delighted.  So for this challenge, I was more than happy to use the Cyclamen Cling Stamp.

After using my MISTI  and my new Creative Corners to stamp off the edge of  the panel, I used a total new to me technique - loose water coloring.  I smooshed Distress Inks on my kraft sheet, spritzed the ink with water and went to work.  I am really happy with how it turned out.  I even managed a bit of shading.  After the flowers were dry, I painted the background.  I stamped the sentiment and added some Nuvo Drops. Then I cut the panel down a bit, mounted it on black card stock and glued it to the card base.

Card base:  Recollections 110 lb
Card stock:  Recollections black
Water color panel:  Strathmore Bristol Smooth
Stamp:  Stampendous Cling Cyclamen
Distress Inks:  Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black

Challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge #240 - Anything Goes
Crafting with Friends #38 - Anything Goes
CAS Watercolour March - Spring
CAS Mix Up - Stamping, Smooshing plus your choice (Nuvo Drops)

30 Day Coloring Challenge Day 4

This is my second post for today.  I got busy and completed another small project for Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  This time I stamped some daisies with a retired Close to My Heart stamp set.  I used my Spectrum Noir markers again.  I added a light dusting of chalk to the background.  I really did enjoy coloring these small flowers this afternoon.  What a change for me!

This stamp had lots of shading added already so that made it easier to color.  That's probably why I enjoyed coloring this one - LOL!

I certainly hope you get a chance to do some coloring this weekend and in the weeks ahead even if you don't join the challenge.  But do join in if you can.

I just realized I have not been showing the button for the challenge - my bad!!

30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 3

I did some coloring for Day 3 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, but did not have time to post yesterday.  This is the bird that I colored.  As I look at it today, I think it might have been nice to add texture by putting some dots on his body.  I can't remember exactly what this technique is called, but I know I have seen it done.  I may do that later. But for right now, I like how it looks and don't want to mess with it. Actually, as I think about it more, I'd like to add grass and sky to make the bird ready for a card. So I guess it's really not finished.

My intention is to use this coloring challenge as a learning experience. I can do basic coloring, but not easily and not excellently. At this point, coloring doesn't relax me, although I can't say I'm tense doing it as I was when I first started.  I'm just not totally comfortable.  I struggle with blending a lot.  And I definitely struggle with just chosing which colors to use. Hopefully, somewhere along this journey I'll get better and actually have fun coloring.  How do you feel about coloring, really??

I'll be back later with Day 4.
