It's 2018!

This is my first post of 2018.  Life just got in the way of my posting until now, so I'm wishing everyone a belated Happy New Year.  We are having bouts of extreme cold here in the South as are other regions.  Just keeping warm has practically turned into a job.  But at least today the sun is out and temperatures are reasonable for our area.  We'll see what happens tomorrow.

If you haven't already seen it, my blog buddy Darnell has put together an amazing team for a new blog challenge:  Twofer Card Challenge.  The concept is to create two separate cards using the same stamps or dies.  It's a lesson in stretching your supplies and adding to your stash all at the same time. I decided to join in and here's what I came up with:

I created a Valentine card and an anniversary card, which puts me ahead of the game since Valentine's Day is next month and our anniversary is in October.  I heat embossed the Valentine and stamped the anniversary card.

Card Stock:  Michael's Recollections 60 lb and 110 lb
Stamps:  Fresh Squeezed Stamps Tickle My Fancy (company now closed)
Valentine Card:  Sizzix Embossing Folder, Stampendous white embossing powder
Anniversary Card:  Hero Arts Tide Pool ink; enamel hearts, my stash

Challenges:
Twofer Card Challenge - January - Feathers

Valentine Card only:  CAS on Sunday#124 - Love or Valentine's Day

Anniversary Card only:  Word Art Wednesday #316-317 - Anything Goes

It now occurs to me that I perhaps should have posted separate pictures of the cards in addition to the picture of them together as required by the Twofer Challenge.  I will next time.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Such pretty cards, Sheila! The bold colours on the background and heart contrast wonderfully with the delicate lines of the feather ... and what a lovely colour palette on your anniversary card, the soft dreaminess is delicious with the drifting images! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

  2. Lovely cards, I do like the colour you've chosen for the Anniversary card, it gives it a delicate floaty feeling and in total contrast with the bold Valentine card. Fabulous x

  4. Your cards are beautiful, Sheila! The white embossing on red really has that Valentine flair. I love the diamond embossed background. Your anniversary card has that wonderful floating feel to it that matches perfectly with the sentiment. Oh I hope it's warming up for you there. In Wisconsin, we're prepared for it, but when I was living in Texas, we were not! Thanks for joining in on the fun over at Twofer Card Challenge!

  5. Wow, these are really pretty, and I love how you've made a Valentine card too! That's a clever design, and also really like the aqua and white one too. Perfect sentiment. Well done! I've gotten so far as die cutting the Bigz THoltz feather die, then cut again from fun foam to make a stamp. Trying to come up with a design now! TFS, Hugs & stay warm.

  6. I'm honored that your first post of 2018 is to play in my new Twofer Challenge, my friend! I hope you got your mojo juices flowing (it will help to keep you warm!) and that you had so much fun, you come back again soon! You have created two different designs for two different occasions using the same stamp and I love them! You remind me how great red and brown look together and I love the texture the e/f has added to your card! And your anniversary card is so romantic! Your mister is going to feel the love from both cards!! Thank you for the shoutout! Mwah! Hugs, Darnell
