Today I'm back with a flower card I made it for a friend using Altenew's Painted Flowers and my MISTI. This was my first effort using the MISTI. I have to say I was reluctant to spend money on it, despite having seen many videos of bloggers using the MISTI. But then I went to a make and take at a local scrapbook store, used it, and was immediately hooked. I love how easy it makes stamping, although for me it's not as easy as it appears. For one thing, the doggone magnets don't always hold my paper down. I ended up getting 2 additional smaller magnets, so now I use 4. But they have to be in just the right position to keep the paper down. I see some folks not even use magnets and still get great stamping, but I haven't managed to do that even on scrap paper.
The layering can be quite a challenge, but practice does help. I find that my "senior" eyes need a lot of daylight, not just artificial light from a lamp. And it took me a while to figure out colors that worked well together. But all in all, I think the card was worth my efforts.
I stamped the flowers with Versamark Black ink, scribbled Distress markers on the flowers and leaves, sprayed the card with water, and let the colors do their thing. I am really happy with the result. I trimmed the panel and double matted it. The sentiment is CTMH and I heat embossed it. Finally, I added some sequins.
I'm entering these challenges: Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge - Summer Garden; Addicted to Stamps - Flowers; Crazy for Challenges - C4C338 - Make it Floral; and Addicted to CAS #89 - Code Petals.
Do you have a MISTI? If you don't, have you had a chance to try it out? I'm interested to hear what you think about it. Have a great day, my friends!
Hi Sheila, you've made a stunning looking card with beautiful stamped flowers on it. I have a misti and I love it :) and the more I use it the easier it gets.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the challenge at Addicted To Stamps Challengeblog.

Such a beautiful card!!!
ReplyDeleteSheila, this is beautiful...Loved the result you've achieved with the pretty flowers. Good for you on the Misti. I don't find it straightforward to use either, but it DOES come in great if you have to restamp because you didn't get a good impression first time. I think perhaps I don't use it enough to develop good skills with it. I debated on buying the mini misti after I'd not used the regular sized one. But finally did, and I reach for it more frequently than I had been. I have the same problem with the magnets (Saw some real tiny ones at Harbor Freight recently). Glad you are being able to take some classes. You did a fab job with this card. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous card Sheila! I love the flowers you stamped and a great effect with the ink and mist. Thanks for joining our Flower challenge at Addicted to Stamps. Marlies
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila! Sorry I have been absent for so long, just been busy but I hope to get better with commenting. I agree on the MISTI, the magnets don't hold my cardstock down so well either. And as much as I love it, it takes some thinking for me to use it. lol I love, love, love your card! It turned out gorgeous! I need good daylight too and my readers. lol In low lighting, well you might as well forget it because I can't see a dang thing anymore. So don't even try to craft without a good light on my mat. Looking forward to seeing what you do next with your MISTI. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, love your choice of colors. Thank you for sharing with ATCAS
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! Yeah, MISITI and I are friends too :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful card! I thought it was genius of you to create a pattern with those flowers, which are perfectly arranged! Not too close together and not too far apart, but just right! And you did an incredible job coloring them, too. I really adore the pastel color palette and how nicely it pairs with the bold clean sentiment. Thank you so much for sharing this with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteI love your flower creation. Wonderful! Thanks for playing with us at Addicted to Stamps Challenge, Hugs Alma
