Love You Grandson

I made another card for our grandson. I believe I make for cards for him than anyone else.
But that's what card making Granny's do, right? He's growing up so fast - he's just begun the 7th grade! Here's my latest card for him:

The card stock is Recollections. The ink, DP and sentiment are Close to My Heart - I've had the DP and stamp for several years and never used them before. I hand cut the sentiment word bubble and popped it up.

Those "enamel dots" are DIY.  I used Perler beads and baked them as I've seen other bloggers do on You Tube. They are larger than I would like, but they're ok. However, I have to tell you that I didn't have real success with melting the beads in the oven.  The results were quite uneven so I got very few usable dots. I may try again if I can find smaller beads to begin with. Otherwise, I'm through with the experiment.

I'm entering these challenges:  Virginia's View Challenge #7 - Patterned Paper (second entry); Darnell's NBUS Challenge #2 (second entry); and Creative Corner - Male.

I'm so happy you stopped by :)

  1. Your DIY dots are the perfect size to border your fun conversation bubble on this fantastic card, Sheila, but thank you for the tip that the process wasn't that successful for you. I've been feeling guilty for not giving it a try. I think you're right, making cards for our ever-growing grandchildren is what we enjoy doing. I'm sure your grandson treasures them all!! Thank you so much for playing again in my NBUS Challenge!! Hugs, Darnell

  2. A perfect card for your grandson. Love the background dp, and that speech bubble was just THE thing for a young man of this age. Said exactly what was meant, no fuss. I've not tried the DIY dots yet, so I'm pleased to hear your comment about the results. Looked fine to me and I think your grandson is one lucky boy to have such a talented Grandma. TFS & Hugs

  4. Awww, I love this card Sheila and I know your grandson will too! Love the paper with all the gears on it, it looks like it has texture too, so cool. The speech bubble is fabulous and I love your DIY enamel dots. I have notice that the perler beads melt better than the pony beads, but I have also notice that difference colors need different times in the oven. So I am sorting my colors and doing all one color at a time. Also there are smaller perler beads, I got mine online at Amazon, they are in divided containers and an assortment of colors. Here is a link to one of them I got. They are much smaller than the ones you got and I love them. Hugs, Brenda

  8. Sheila, the pedi/mani were wonderful. I'm asking myself why I never got a pedicure when I was working. I did get manicures now & again, but never the pedi. Which is definitely much more luxurious feeling than a manicure. I'm pleased with this new place - my neighbor had been to both places. I was very concerned on my 1st visit, didn't have sense enough to ask my questions before I went into the shop. Thought maybe my experience might be helpful to other people, which is why I shared the bit about being certain the instruments are cleaned properly & not causing later difficulties. I've gotten some feedback about catching some fungus stuff since I put this in my post. Happy wkend, and hope you're having some good weather. Hugs.
