Hearts, But Not Valentines

I'm cutting it close to the wire in entering this month's Twofer Card Challenge. It closes in just a few hours. We are to use hearts.  I'm really liking this challenge.  It causes me to think about getting more from my stamps.  I love seeing the DT's projects, not to mention the challenge entries.  There's tons of great ideas there.  You should definitely check out the challenge if you haven't already.

The heart stamp for both cards is Neat & Tangled Falling Hearts.  All card stock is Recollections 60 lb and 110 lb.

The first card has a galaxy background - or at least my attempt at a galaxy background. I sponged Distress Inks (Black Soot, Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire and Salty Ocean) to create the background, then stamped the larger hearts only in Versamark Ink 3 times, filling out the width of the panel.  Then I used white embossing powder and heat embossed the hearts.  I added small white dots with a white Jelly Roll Pen, sprayed the background with both water and Tattered Angel's Pearl Glimmer Mist, and embossed the sentiment in white on black paper (Altenew's Label Love). Then I put the panel atop a black card base.  The glimmer mist is really pretty in real life, but doesn't show up so much in the picture.  I really like the sentiment with the sky full of hearts.

For the second card, I stamped the hearts with Kaleidacolor Pastel Ink. I think they are so pretty.  I cut the panel with a stitched die.  This panel is dusted with pink chalk. I cut a larger panel with a stitched die from pink card stock, making a splashed background using Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.  I stamped the sentiment (Stampers Anonymous Just Sayings), trimmed it and glued it down to a white card base. Finally, I added some Spectrum Noir Clear  Sparkle Pen to the hearts.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog #320 - Sympathy

Our newest challenge at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is to create a sympathy card.  Most of us find these cards difficult to make. It's something we need to do at times, however.  In the past, I have never made sympathy cards in advance.  But lately, I've reconsidered my feelings and decided that I will make a few in advance of need.  This challenge got me started.

I used the Bloom Cartridge to cut the images out of white card stock.  The bird cage is colored with Spectrum Noir Markers as is the butterfly.  I stamped the sentiment using Distress Ink. I cut the card front layer using a Fawn Lawn die and dusted it with light green chalk before adhering the elements and stamping the sentiment.

Card stock:   Recollections 110 lb.
Spectrum Noir Markers:  LG 1, 2, 3; HB 2, 3
Die:  Fawn Lawn Stitched Rectangles
Sentiment:  Close to My Heart (retired)

Last Valentine

It's the day before Valentine's Day. I hope everyone has made their cards and mailed them. Mine went out last week.  This one was made for our grandniece.  Hopefully, she'll receive it on time and will like it.

I colored this image for Kathy R's 30 Day Coloring Challenge at The Daily Marker.  I actually colored all 30 days, but I will say I mostly colored small images.  I've kinda grown to like coloring, but it's still not easy for me.  So I tend to work with small and simple images. But at least I am no longer embarrassed by my coloring. I know the basics of shading and blending, and as long as I keep it simple, I do okay.  But please believe me - I've come a long way - LOL!!

Card stock:  Recollections 110 lb.

Masculine Get Well

Today I'm sharing a get well card for my best friend's husband who's also a dear friend to both me and my hubby.  Hopefully, by the time he receives the card, he will be back feeling well.  We just wanted to let him know we are thinking of him and praying for his health.

I have a lot of tea cup stamps, but not one mug stamp.  So I made this CAS card using my Cricut to create the mug.  I was so glad I found the image in my cartridges since I felt a mug would be more suitable for the masculine look I wanted. I sponged the Distress Ink background, adhered the mug and steam (love the steam!), and stamped the sentiment.  Bam!  It was done.

Cricut Cartridge:  Everyday Pop Up Cards
Card stock:  Recollections 110 lb.
Designer Paper:  My stash

613 Avenue Create #206 - Anything Goes - Option Love

Hello, my Crafty Friends!  613 Avenue Create starts off February with the option of Love on our Anything Goes Challenge.  Since Valentine's Day is this month, we know a number of you already have love on your minds.  We're anxious to see what you all create so please join in.  Here's my card.  I actually made a number of these for my church ministry to give to our adopted seniors.

I used a Cricut cartridge to cut the heart "flowers."  I stamped the background and sentiment, adding some gold thread behind the die cut sentiment.

I'll be back later to add some challenges.

Card stock:  Recollections 60 lb. and 110 lb.
Background Stamp:  Concord and 9th Polka Dot Turnabout (stamped once)
