It's Halloween and we're getting ready for the neighborhood trick or treat traffic. I almost forgot to post this card I made weeks ago for our grandniece. She has a black cat named Smokey so I knew this would be perfect for her. For some unknown reason, I forgot to take a picture of this card before I mailed it. So I asked my niece to send me a picture. And here it is:
I blended distress inks onto white card stock and then cut out a panel using a stitched die. I inked up the panel with Versamark and heat embossed it so it shines, which is hard to tell in the picture. I cut the pumpkin using an image from my SNC2. The cat is from some Stampin' Up paper (sorry, I don't know the name). I stamped and hand cut the sentiment.
Cardstock: Recollections 110 lb, my stash, and Stampin' Up
Die Cut Pumpkin: Scan and Cut 2 image
Inks: Dusty Concord, Chiped Sapphire, Mowed Lawn & Ripe Persimmon Distress Inks; Versamark; Memento Black
Sentiment: Hampton Art
Die: Fawn Lawn Stitched Rectangles
Challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas #341 - Pumpkins (I hope my SNC image counts as a die cut)

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog #312 - Halloween
We're halfway through October so Halloween will soon be here. For our new challenge at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog we'd like to see some Halloween creations.
When our sons were little, we always took them out to trick or treat. Once or twice, we even got to go out with our grandson. Now we just stay home and give out candy.
Here's the card I created for this challenge:
I used Distress Inks to create my dark sky background and then sprayed it with water. I attached it to some patterned paper and then to the card base. The spider web and boo sentiment are Cricut cuts. Since I don't have any ghost stamps, I drew the little ghost and cut it out. Then I used a white gel pen to draw stars on the background panel. Finally, I added a layer of clear Wink of Stella to everything except the background. BTW, my decorations are little candles that I've had for years and years - cute, aren't they?
You'll want to enter our challenge so you can have a chance to win $20 from our sponsor Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons.
To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images. If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!
Card stock: Recollections 60 lb and 110 lb
Patterned Paper: Bo Bunny Fright Delight (paper is green & purple - hard to tell in picture)
Cricut Cartridge: Close to My Heart Artbooking
Distress Inks: Dusty Concord and Black Soot
Accessory: Gelly Roll White Pen
Challenges:
If You Give a Crafter a Cookie #79
Die Cut Divas - October Mood Board
Come and Get It Challenge - Purple, Orange & Black

Celebrating World Card Making Day
Since Saturday was World Card Making Day, I wanted to create a card even though I wasn't able to craft with friends. I needed a card for our grand niece who suffered a burn in a microwave accident. I used Distress Inks and acetate to create the background. She will be getting this card with a little something in it to help her feel better. And since she's a teenager, you know exactly what that little something is - LOL!
I smooshed two Distress Inks on my craft mat and spritzed them with water. Then I placed a piece of acetate on the inks (separately) and placed the acetate down onto the card panel. I dried the first color with my heat gun before adding the other color. I did this a couple of times, adding the color to a different section of the panel each time. Then, using two separate dies, I cut the sentiment, adhering the words to the base. I inked the flower stamp with Distress Ink and cut it out, popping it up. I adhered the distress panel to the front of the card base. Finally, I added a strip of Washi. Done!
Card stock: Recollections 60 lb and 110 lb
Inks: Distress Squeezed Lemonade and Salty Ocean
Washi: My stash
Stamp: Close to My Heart (retired)
Dies: Paper Smooches (I think; I don't have the markings any more)

A Shout Out to Darnell
Today is the last day of Darnell's NBUS Challenge #12 so I'm rushing to get one more entry in. This is a birthday card for my friend and neighbor, a beautiful young wife and mother. She favors spike heel shoes as do most young women so I put a fancy shoe on her card. But I have a story to tell about the shoe stamp.
A few months back Darnell gifted me with a medium priority mail box of stamps and dies that she purged from her stash. We had corresponded, and she offered to send me some items when she cleaned out some things in her play house. Well, I never expected to receive such an abundance of kindness. This shoe stamp is one of the items. Darnell is kind and generous beyond words. She would not even accept payment of postage for the box of goodies she sent. Can you believe that?! Darnell is one of the most talented and generous people that I know. I simply cannot say enough good things about her.
My NBUS are the stencil for the background and the shoe stamp. I created my own background paper by inking through the stencil. I stamped the shoe and then cut around it with an oval Nestabilities die, dusting it with chalk. I mounted everything on a black panel which I glued to a white card base. Finally I stamped the sentiment and die cut it.
Card stock: Recollections 60 lb and 110 lb
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Versa Magic Red Magic
Stencil: Melissa Francis (couldn't find a name on the package)
Stamps: Rubbernecker Butterfly Shoe; Anna Griffin (sentiment)
Challenges:

613 Avenue Create October - Anything Goes Option Masculine
It's October...Fall is officially here. At 613 Avenue Create we're asking for masculine cards as our twist for our Anything Goes challenge. Our grandson's birthday is this month so this is for him. It's ok for me to show it now because he doesn't follow my blog:
I fell in love with this image when I saw it. I think it's perfect for a skinny jean wearing teen, which is one way to describe our grandson. I purchased this image over a year ago, but too late for his birthday so I saved it until now.
After cutting out the image, I dusted the panel with chalk. Then I matted it onto black card stock. I embossed my DP and sanded it to pop the impression - love that look. I cut the DP and matted it onto a back panel atop my white card base. The sentiment was cut out of a pattern of various sentiments. I matted it onto black card stock also and glued it down after also dusting it with chalk.
(Edited to say that I was out of town the past 5 days. My scheduled post did not occur Sunday due, I'm sure, to some type of error on my part.)
Card stock: Recollections 60 lb and 110 lb
Designer Paper & Chalk: My stash
Embossing Folder: Darice Piano Notes
Stamp: Stamplorations It's Your Day
Image: Kreativehenderdigis #208
Challenges:
