Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog #308-Vacations

Welcome to our newest challenge at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog - Vacations.   The FCCB Design Team is sponsoring a $25 gift card at
Amazon!

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project, and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

I love going on golf vacations even though I don't golf - my husband does.  I love golf vacations because we go where it's warm and beautiful.  I have time to myself to read, sun, shop, rest and sometimes craft (if I take supplies with me).  I usually get a few pictures of my hubby on the course and sometimes even ride the cart with him as he plays.  It's very peaceful and relaxing.  And we spend time together after he finishes his round, doing whatever we feel like doing after enjoying a nice lunch or dinner. So I decided to make a card in honor of these wonderful times.  Here it is:

The golf bag and sun are Cricut cuts.  I cut the golf bag from white paper and from brown paper, and paper pieced the brown bag over the white one after cutting off the brown clubs.  I colored the white clubs with a Spectrum Noir marker.  The golf balls were made using a hole punch.  I used inks to distress the sun and the top edge of the grass.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap, cut around it and inked the sides.  I created the sky with Distress Ink and hand cut the grassy hill from card stock.  I smile when I think of fun in the sun on a golf course with my husband.

Card stock:  Recollections 110 lb and 60 lb
Stamp:  Stampin' Up Pursuit of Happiness sent to me by my blog buddy, Darnell (I'll have to tell you more about that at another time.)
Spectrum Noir Marker:  IG1
Inks:  Distress Broken China; Color Box Banana; Close to My Heart Olive
Cricut Cartridges:   Celebrate with Flourish (golf bag); Art Philosophy (sun)

613 Avenue Careate #200 Anything Goes - Option Shabby Chic

I am totally a Clean and Simple card maker.  So when our challenge this month at 613 Avenue Create turned out to have the twist of creating a shabby chic project, I thought, how in the world am I going to create something like that??  Well, I challenged myself to bite the bullet and create a project in a style totally foreign to me.  Here it is:

I made an oversized tag using my Cricut.  Then I sponged the white card stock with Distress ink.  I tore some designer paper, careful to show some of the white core, and glued it to the tag.  I cut up a paper doily, inked it, and attached it to the tag.  I then inked white paper flowers, layered them, and glued them down. I tore a small strip of the designer paper and attached it atop one piece of the doily.  I added pearls to the flower centers, inked the edges of the tag, and finally attached a ribbon.

I am rather proud of my tag.  Believe me, this was not easy for me. I urge you all to once in a while create a project in a style that you're not accustomed to using. Expand your creative horizons and just go for it!  You may just have some fun along the way.  I know I did.

Card stock:  Recollections 110 lb
Inks:  Dusty Concord Distress; Close to My Heart Blush; Color Box Banana
Cricut Cartridge:  Art Philosophy
My stash:  Designer paper, doily, pearls, ribbon

I will come back later to add some challenges.  Enjoy your day!

Hot Weather Treat

Happy August 1!  Before we know it, summer will be over.  Our hot days in Georgia make juice bars are nice way to cool off.  I say juice bars because they are healthier than popsicles - LOL! This is one of the few times I've actually created duplicate cards. I think I may do this more often in the future.

Using my Spectrum Noir markers, I colored one orange and one grape - my two favorite flavors.  I stamped the swiped background - I love how it looks.  Then I fussy cut the juice bars, coated them with some clear Wink of Stella and popped them up using foam tape. I stamped the sentiment, glued the panel to a white card base and done! This was a fun card to make.

Spectrum Noir Markers:  LV2, 3; OR2,3; TN1, 2
