Distress Ink Halloween

I'm really early with a Halloween card this year. I am determined to get better blending distress inks so I decided to ink up a night sky for our grandson's Halloween card. Here it is:

The tree  is heat embossed in black and so is the bird. I created the sky with distress inks. They blended pretty smoothly. The background is a bit darker in real life. I splashed the background with water to create an erie look. I cut the panel down and matted it. I didn't think it needed a sentiment - it looks like Halloween, don't you think?

Musical Birthday Card

Today's post is a card I made for my youngest son's birthday. He loves music.  As usual,  I made him a clean and simple card with no stamping on the card front. I think it has a nice masculine feel to it.

The background is a musical note embossing folder. The key board is a die I borrowed from a friend so I'm not sure of the name, but I do know she purchased it from Create and Craft online.  I cut it in black and white and overlaid the pieces. The sentiment is a die that I've had for a while, and I'm unsure of the name.

Stencil Thank You

Hi, Friends,

I'm posting a thank you I made for a friend. I used Distress Inks through a stencil. I matted the background on blue paper after cutting it to size, then glued it to a white card base. Finally, I added a sticker flower, a die cut thanks, and some sequins for a quick and easy card.

Sorry about the glare in the picture. I tried photo editing, but this is the best I could do. I really didn't want to use a sticker flower, but I find I don't have any simple flower dies. I'll have to remedy that soon. As for why I didn't just stamp and fussy cut a flower, my arthritic right thumb was giving me the blues, making using scissors a bit painful.  I needed the card in a hurry, so I went for the sticker.

P.P.S.  Thanks to Happy Little Stampers for deleting my incorrect link so I could link up this card. Sometimes my computer and I just don't get along...

Apple Card

So how are you today?  I'm feeling fine, happy to be well and happy that it's another sun shiny day. Today I'm posting a card I made using a retired Close to My Heart set that I have had for years. Solid images were so hard for me to stamp pre-MISTI (which is probably why I hadn't used this set before).

Sister Birthday

Wow - this is my second post for today - how about that?!  I'm on a roll today - LOL!! This is a card I made for my sister's birthday. As you can see, it's a milestone birthday. My sister loves playing the slot machines as much as I love making cards. (She doesn't make cards and I don't gamble.)  I have had this Robert Jackson image for over 4 years and have never used it. I just love this Gambling Granny as I call her. The image was actually a gift from Chana Harris, an owner of 613 Avenue Create. Thanks again, Chana!

It took well over a week for this card to arrive at my sister's house. I was so afraid it was lost in the mail. I thought I would have to make another one since this was so special.  When she finally received it, my sister laughed and said she understood why I was so upset it took so long to get to her. Can you blame me?

If you look closely, you can see that I photographed the card after my husband and I signed it. Oh, well.

This step card was a lot of fun to  make. I used a die for the sentiment and stars. The heart and cherries are stickers. It's colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. The card stock is all from my stash as are the rhinestones.

I've had a lot of fun posting today. Now I've got to get back to visiting and commenting on blogs. Happy Memorial Day, friends!

Air Travel

Hello, friends. I'm back with a card that I made for our grandson to thank folks who contributed funds to help make it possible for him to travel with his classmates from California to Washington, D.C. and New York. He made the trip in May, and it's something he'll remember all his life.

I bought the Tim Holtz United States die at least 2 years ago when I was in Florida. I purchased the Fawn Lawn airplane and cloud stamp and die set last summer. The sentiment is CTMH and it's cut with a Fawn Lawn stitched die. All card stock is from my stash.

The USA die is so cool, but it's very hard on senior eyes! As you cut the United States shape, the individual states are also cut and fall out...California was easy to pick up, since the shape is so distinctive. New York and DC are small and gave me fits. I only wanted to highlight his home state and where he was going so those are the only states I glued in place. I think I made about 22 cards.  I was happy with how they turned out and so was our grandson.

613 Avenue Create #189 - Anything Goes-Option Colors of Fall

Hi, My Crafty Friends!

I have been missing for a while. I have been ill, which prevented me from crafting and blogging. I am so happy to be well!  I missed the first monthly challenge at 613 Avenue Create due to my illness. For September, our Anything Goes option is to use the colors of Fall.  Here's my card, using a tag  image from KREATIVEHENDERDIGIS.

I started with a pre-cut tag I got from Tuesday Morning. I colored the ticket with Tea Dye Distress Ink. I did my best to blend some Distress Inks on the tag:  Spiced Marmelade, Fired Brick and Squeezed Lemonade.  After blending the inks, I dropped some water on the tag. I added some Washi tape from my stash and tied on some brown Baker's Twine from Martha Stewart. I adhered the ticket to a Kraft card base and added some enamel dots.

I am going to enter these challenges:  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog - Anything Goes; Digi Stamps 4 Joy - Anything Goes - Option Color Challenge and Sisters of Craft - Anything Goes.

As I said earlier, I am so happy to be back crafting. I plan to blog a lot more frequently.  I actually have some cards I made earlier in the year which I did not post and plan to do so soon. Wish me luck! I hope you have a wonderful day.
